Backpacking training is three parts: Virtual gsLearn, In-person
classroom, and Experience training.
Must be registered for and complete concurrently for both Part
1 and Part 2.
- Virtual, gsLearn course before the training day
- In-person training is one day of training
- Experience
training is day and overnight at Little Big Econ State Forest.
Saturday morning through Sunday by noon, including staying overnight
in a personal tent, and gear, and providing one's own food.
Level 3- Primitive
- Experienced Cadettes and
older
- Walking to the site
- Sleeping in a tent, not
a physical structure
- Cooking with semi-primitive
equipment
- Using potable water/carry-in water
- Primitive toilet structures on-site
- Park Ranger
available
- Emergency service is less than 30 minutes
away
- For excursions with emergency services more than 30
minutes away, Wilderness First Aid training is required.
Prerequisite: Troop Camper Level 2 Certificate, Troop
Camper Level 3 gsLearn Online training, and Troop Camper Level 3
Classroom training.
Blended Training Program Design:

gsLearn online training, participants will:
- Earn a minimum score of
86%.
- Receive an email inviting you to the In-person
training.

- Complete day training
- Receive an email confirmation to attend the On-site
experience training.

Experience Training
- Arriving in Little Big
Econ State Forest on Saturday morning
- Training is
completed on Sunday by noon.
- Departing from Little
Big Econ State Forest.
- After completion of Troop
Camper Level 3 Certificate of Completion will be issued.
- Upload your gsLearn training course to earn 100%.

Fee Includes - Access to gsLearn online course,
In-person training, and On-site fees for experiential training, a
Participant binder with resources, and a Troop Camper Level 3
Certificate of Completion with a 3-year renewal.
Participant Supplies to Bring:
- Overnight camping is
required, bringing their food, backpacks, tent, and supplies.
- Providing proper gear and food information during the classroom
experience ensures participants are well-informed and prepared. This
allows them to understand the necessary equipment and dietary
considerations upfront. Subsequently, purchasing supplies after the
session enables attendees to select appropriate items based on the
detailed guidance received, leading to better preparedness and a
more successful experience.
Important Information:
- No tag-alongs
- gsLearn training must be completed
before the in-person training.
- This is overnight
training.
- Participants are provided with a list of
recommended food and supplies to bring to the training.
- Participants bring and sleep in their tents.
- Prerequisites must be met.

- All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via

- There will be no refunds or transfers for a no-show.
