mentoring

The Get Real! Mentoring Program was developed by Girl Scout councils in Florida as part of the Governor’s Mentoring Initiative. Our mission is to impact school performance and attendance of at-risk middle school girls by increasing their motivation and ability to make positive life choices with the help from caring community members serving as mentors.

Each week during the school year, a facilitator leads a session on a focused topic, and mentors and girls work together on activities and conversations related to the topic. Girls learn about self esteem, caring for others, abstinence, honesty, and social skills. The program runs for 30 weeks at three schools in our service area.  Get Real! participants may have the opportunity to travel together to camp or on field trips to local events and attractions.

Want to make a difference in the life of a girl? The Get Real! Team is always on the lookout for positive female role models to mentor girls. For more information, contact Felice McClary, Director, Girl Leadership Experience, fmcclary@citrus-gs.org, 407-228-1627 or 407-896-4475, ext.1207
