"Never
doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can
change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Margaret Mead
Girl Scouts of Citrus Council has always
looked to the "small group of
thoughtful, committed citizens" to help us to be our best. Through their help
we are able to reach the more than 25,000 girls in east Central Florida who
benefit from being in Girl Scouting.
The children of today
are our future. It is our goal to be positive role models to help
these
girls become that group of committed individuals
who will make a difference
in the world. We must continue to challenge their minds and imaginations.
We are
responsible for giving them the tools to cope with the challenges of drug abuse,
child
abuse, teen pregnancy, family crises and teen suicide. Girl Scouting provides the
opportunity for girls to develop these essential tools to cope with challenges
and to
achieve their best.
Girl Scouts of Citrus Council is a private
non-profit organization. The council's
$4.0 million operating budget is funded by individuals, foundations, local
businesses, program
income from product sales, program fees and
United Ways.

The goal of
fund development
in Girl Scouts of
Citrus Council is
to diversify and
increase income
generated with a
broad-based adult
effort, which will support
current and long-term
fiscal stability.
The
average cost of providing
Girl Scouting to one
girl is $150 a year.
The methods used for adult generated fund development include:

and program center maintenance.There
are six divisions to this campaign.
These divisions include:
- Family/Friends

Foundations and Grants -
Citrus Council
submits funding requests for specific
projects and operating expenses to
various local and regional foundations
and corporations. |

Honor and Memorial Gifts -
Throughout the year
Citrus Council of Girl Scouts receives numerous
memorial and honor girls and contributions from
individuals, estates and trusts, family members
and friends. The gifts are made in
honor or in memory of friends and family.
Planned Giving -
A planned gift makes a positive
statement to family and friends regarding a person's
priorities
as well as make a tremendous difference
in our future work. By making a planned gift,
individuals can make Girl Scouts a place where
girls grow strong. Citrus Council established the
Juliette Low "Leave a Legacy" Society to offer that
opportunity to donors
an opportunity to make sure
that future generations of girls benefit from the Girl
Scout mission.
Gifts in Kind - Individuals, civic organizations
and businesses donate products and
services to Citrus Council. Donations
include equipment, supplies and
tickets to special events.

United Way -

four United Way organizations in support of youth
