Approved High Adventure Activities/Sites

What is an Approved Vendor?

In Girl Scouts, safety is our #1 priority for everyone. We must ensure that we follow Safety Activity Checkpoints and Risk Management guidelines at all times to ensure the safety of girls and volunteers. High Adventure activities and facilities must be approved by Girl Scouts of Citrus before Girl Scouts can participate.

An Approved vendor/activity/facility must complete the Girl Scouts of Citrus vendor approval process by meeting GSUSA’s safety and insurance requirements.

What activities need to be approved?
Any high risk/adventure activity needs to be approved. High risk is defined as any activity that requires specialized skills, training, equipment and/or supervision on the part of the participant and/or the instructor. Examples of these include but are not limited to: Horseback riding, rock climbing, low & high ropes, climbing walls, canoe/kayak, paddleboard, surfing, indoor trampoline, indoor skydiving or shooting sports or locations and/or sites that provide these activities

What activities do not approval?
In general, the following activities do not require approval: family fun centers, ice/roller skating, bounce houses, arts and crafts. If a venue has multiple activities, some of them may require approval and some may not, girls are allowed to participate in the activities that do not require approval or are approved.

How do I know which guidelines to follow?

For all activities, the leader/designated adult should review all Safety Activity Checkpoints and the current approved vendor list before scheduling activities to ensure that all of the guidelines are being followed. TAR’s and the request to purchase additional insurance should only be submitted for vendors/activities that are approved.

What if the vendor is not on the list?
At Girl Scouts of Citrus, we are always on the lookout for new opportunities to bring to our girls and volunteers. To request vendors and/or activities to be approved, please submit the Vendor Request Form by clicking this link  http://www.citrus-gs.org/en/events/approved-vendors/Request_Vendor_Approval.html .

Please remember to  plan your activities accordingly, the approval process can take 4 to 6 weeks.  Questions? Please email Theresa Rivera at  trivera@citrus-gs.org.

Please keep in mind that we will not be approving new vendors during these times  May 1st through August 15th. We will start scheduling new vendors after August 15.
