Are you ready for Girls Rule! or Eat, Sleep, Camp? We hope you have
found exciting opportunities and cannot wait to register;
the following information will make registration easier!
REGISTRATION
- Complete the day or resident camp application
indicating the camp you’d like to attend.
- Send the completed form along with the appropriate
fee (check payable to Girl Scouts of Citrus Council)
to: Girl Scouts of Citrus Council, 341 N. Mills
Ave., Orlando, FL 32803 or you can fax it to (407)
894-0966 with credit card payment.
Registrations are also accepted at the Council Shop.
Register as soon as possible, because camps fill up quickly.
- When registering for resident camp a $50 deposit
is due for each session, unless applying for
financial assistance.
- If registering for day camp (single session) the
full fee including extended care, if applicable, is
required. If registering for more than one
session of day camp at least half of each week’s
fee and the entire extended care fee, if applicable,
is required with registration.
- The remainder of the fee for both day and resident
camp must be received at least three weeks before
the session begins. If the remainder isn’t
received, your daughter’s registration may be
cancelled.
- Applications with no fee attached will not be
processed and girls will not be placed in camp. When
the fee is received, the girl will then be placed if
space is still available.
DISCOUNTS (Resident Camp):
- Resident camp applications paid in full by
Tuesday, May 1, 2008, may take a $10 reduction on the
camp fee.
- Sister Plan: If a family has more than one
girl registered for resident camp, the first girl
pays the regular fee and each girl thereafter
receives a $25 discount.
- Multiple sessions: For resident campers attending
multiple sessions, there is a $25 discount for each
additional session attended.
No discounts apply to day camp.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:
- Orange County residents are eligible to apply for
"The Club" scholarships. If you are
interested, please check out their website at
www.theOCclub.net.
- A limited amount of financial assistance is
available through Citrus Council. Please see the
Financial Assistance Application for more
information.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
- The health and safety of our campers is our
primary concern. The program, health and
safety standards are those developed by Girl Scouts
of the USA and conform to regulations of the State
of Florida. A parent/guardian must complete
and bring to camp a health history for all camps; a
physical examination must also be performed within
12 months of the date of attendance for resident
campers. Insurance is included in the camp fee
for accidents that may occur during camp.
American Red Cross and the State of Florida safety
regulations are observed if the camp offers
swimming.
VERIFICATION OF PLACEMENT:
- Due to the overwhelming number of applications
received daily, we are unable to verify receipt of
your fax or mailed application. You will be
issued a written confirmation within two weeks of
receipt of your application. If you do not
receive a confirmation within a few days after the
two weeks, contact the camp registrar to verify
status at
daycamp@citrus-gs.org
or residentcamp@citrus-gs.org
or at 407-896-4475.
PARENT CONFIRMATION:
- Camp Registrars issue confirmations weekly on
Wednesdays.
- Confirmation packets will direct parents/guardians
to a web site location where they can download
necessary forms for their daughter to attend camp.
- A map to the camp will be included.
WAITING LISTS & WALK-INS:
- If a camp has reached capacity, applicants will be
placed on a waiting list.
- A notice will be sent to you to contact the camp
registrar for you to decide to either remain on the
waiting list or move to a different camp.
- If you remain on the waiting list the full camp
fee must be paid.
- If your daughter does not make it into camp, a
full refund will be issued automatically.
- Walk-ins are discouraged. No camps will
accept walk-ins unless the camp is not full.
Walk-ins will be charged an additional fee of $15.
- If there is a waiting list or no-shows, those
girls must be contacted prior to walk-ins being
accepted.
CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY OR CHANGES:
- Fees are refundable (minus an administrative fee
of $10 for day camp or $30 for resident camp) if
Citrus Council is notified in writing at
least three weeks before your daughter’s
camp starts.
- Any camp that does not have sufficient
participants will be cancelled and a full refund
will be issued.
- NOTE: You must also cancel extended care if
applicable.
- All changes must be made in writing by mail or
e-mail to the camp registrar. For day
camp
daycamp@citrus-gs.org
and for resident camp residentcamp@citrus-gs.org.
EXTENDED CARE (Day Camp):
- Some day camps offer before or after care.
- Hours may vary. See each camp listing to
find availability.
- All extended care fees are due with the original
registration.
- Extended care fee where available is $15 for AM or
$15 PM care for 1 to 5 days
TRANSPORTATION/LUNCH (Day Camp):
Transportation is not provided to or from day camp.
If a field trip is indicated, transportation is
provided from the day camp location to the destination
and back to day camp.
Lunch is not provided unless indicated on the
confirmation.
You should plan to pack a nutritious
non-refrigerated/non-microwave
lunch for your daughter every day.
Beverages and snacks are provided. Water
is always available.
TRANSPORTATION/MEALS (Resident Camp):
- Transportation to and from camp is not provided.
- Meals are served family style in the dining hall.
- Day and evening snacks are available and water is
always available.
- Accommodations will be made for special dietary
needs indicated on the camper’s health form.
ACTIVITIES (Resident Camp):
- All resident camp programs have an individual
theme that determines some of the activities that
campers will participate in that week.
However, all campers may participate in several
activities including campfires, archery (ages 8+),
boating, eco-center activities, crafts, cookouts,
and hiking. In addition to all this, the girls
in each unit will choose and plan activities that
they have an interest in pursuing.
CLOTHING AT CAMP (Day
or Resident Camp):
- In accordance with
Girl Scouts of the USA safety standards girls should
not wear the following: halter or tank tops, open
toe or open heel shoes (unless in the shower).
Blouses or shirts must cover their shoulders and
backs to protect them from sunburn. Closed toe shoes
and socks must be worn while at camp (no Heelies or
roller shoes allowed). Girls should wear appropriate
clothing while at camp to protect them from
environmental hazards. Crocs are not
recommended for water activities.
CAMP KAPERS (Day and
Resident Camp):
- Camp Kapers are part
of the Girl Scout culture and are daily chores to
keep the camp in a clean and healthy condition.
Kapers teach girls responsibility and to help them
take pride in their camp. Everyone participates in
kapers including staff. Kapers performed by girls
are always supervised by adult staff. Girls are
responsible for part of the daily kapers including
cleaning their unit areas of clutter including
grounds and trash and wiping out sinks, etc. They
are responsible for sweeping and lightly mopping the
area if needed. If girls cook, they are responsible
for washing the dishes afterwards. Girls never
handle chemicals and are never instructed to do
kapers that are not appropriate for their age level.
OUT-OF-COUNCIL REGISTRATIONS:
- Reservations will be accepted from out-of-council
Girl Scouts after March 31, 2008, for the same fee as
Citrus Council Girl Scouts. Non-Girl Scouts
may register at any time. The fee for non-Girl
Scouts is an additional $30 and includes Girl Scout
membership.
STAFF (The Camp Teams):
- Resident camp staff is a select group of
individuals, mostly college students, who have
completed an application, provided three references,
been interviewed, and passed a background
check. International staff members are
interviewed and hired through reputable exchange
programs. Upon arrival to camp, staff receives
a week of pre-camp training to orientate them to the
camp environment, Girl Scouting and the specific
needs and interests of our campers.
- Day camp staff is a select group of
individuals, mostly young adults, mothers and Girl
Scout troop leaders or volunteers who have completed
an application, provided three references, been
interviewed, and cleared a background check.
Prior to camp, staff participates in precamp
training to orientate them to the camp environment,
Girl Scouting and the specific needs and interests
of our day campers.
