She’s a Scientist is a series of inspirational workshops with hands-on experiences featuring female guest speakers from the fields of science, technology, engineering and/or math- STEM. At the Turtle Academy, girls will learn all about turtles, their habitat and experience hands-on activities related to sea turtles. Girls will walk to the beach to look for possible turtle nests and find out if this is a field they enjoy working.

General Information:
Date: Saturday, June 2, 2012
Location: Barrier Island Center
Time: 9 a.m. –12 p.m.
Other: Girls may register individually and do not need a chaperone.
Max: 30 Girls per session
Cost: $5 per girl – includes materials & patch
Registration Deadline: May 23, 2012.

Note: Due to the limited capacity of this site – please register ONLY the number of adults to comply with girl/adult ratios found in Safety-Wise and enough to transport the girls. After the registration deadline if there are spaces available additional adults may be accommodated.

Date: Friday, June 8, 2012 – Sunday, June 10, 2012
Location: Washington, DC
Time: We will leave Friday morning from Council Service Center and return Sunday afternoon to Council Service Center
Cost: $300 per person- includes transportation, food for all three days, lodging and registration. Register with GSC.
Registration Deadline: $50 w/registration is due March 15, 2012. Rest of money is due April 19, 2012.

8:00 am She's A Scientist - C.S.I, Crime Scene Investigation (program)

She’s a Scientist is a series of inspirational workshops with hands-on experiences featuring female guest speakers from the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Math- STEM. At C.S.I. girls will meet the Crime Scene Investigation & Forensic Unit team from Osceola County Sheriff’s office.  Learn about their path to their careers and share in their daily experiences including DNA, blood spatter, fingerprinting and much more.

Location: Reedy Osceola County Sheriff’s office
Time: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Max: 50 girls
Cost: $5 per girl – includes material & She’s a Scientist Patch with “C.S.I.” rocker.

You may launch rockets, make science experiments, learn about space, – all while the STEM Team reinforces scientific skills in a really cool way.
