7:00 pm Snooze at the Zoo
A special overnight adventure awaits you! “Snooze at the Zoo” offers you the opportunity to spend the night indoors in the Discovery Center. A close-up nocturnal animal encounter is followed by a flashlight tour of the zoo. Before crawling into your sleeping bag, you will enjoy a bedtime snack and a movie! Before you know it, you’ll awaken to the early morning sounds of the zoo. After a continental breakfast, you will head back into the zoo to be the first people to greet the animals. Girls will have the opportunity to learn about the different cycles of water, how we can benefit from them, and how water can be the cause of major disasters. Some of the activities will include: making/decorating rain barrels for public buildings, canoeing, an airboat ride, Jungle Boat cruise to Makinson, and trash clean up, minute demonstrations / presentations regarding drinking water, conservation, surface water and how water can turn against us at times. Come on out for a day of fun and adventure at our beautiful Merrit Island location. Spend the day with your special guy sailing, canoeing, paddle boarding, fishing, shooting Archery and more! Explore the beautiful trails and natural environment on this amazing yet undiscovered property. Everyone must be able to swim and not have a fear of the water; activities will take place on Sykes Creek and the Banana River. Visit the Waterhouse Residence Museum while exploring the wonders of the past. All participants will take a tour through a historic home built in 1884, learn about Victorian Etiquette, and practice manners at a tea party. Your tea party will feature cookies, pastries, and a variety of teas. Brownie and Daisy Participants will receive Maitland Historical Society’s signature patch, and a decorated hat to take home. Come enjoy Earth Day at Old Town! We will be looking at all the wonderful ways to save our planet. We will have fun activities like making items from recycled goods, planting seeds in recycled materials, and learn about invasive plants. Girls will participate in an Earth Day Parade.
