Girl Scouts of Citrus Council received a $4800 grant from the Winter Park Community Foundation to help send girls from Winter Park to either day or resident camp this summer.

Summer day and resident camps provide opportunities for girls to develop life skills, expand their knowledge of nature and outdoors, challenge their bodies and minds, and make new friends.  Girl Scouts of Citrus Council has many girls who are unable to attend camp because of economic challenges.  Thanks to the Winter Park Community Foundation, girls whose families faced these challenges will be able to attend camp.

The Winter Park Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Central Florida, holds 65 individual and family grant making funds established by local residents to enhance and support the quality of life in the Winter Park community. The mission of the Winter Park Community Foundation is:

  • To build philanthropic capital dedicated to improving the community’s quality of life
  • To strengthen the community’s nonprofit organizations
